Summary: "After being uprooted by his mother's new job, Milo, at the age of eight and a half, has retired from having fun. His young sister, Georgie, doesn't feel the same way; she wants to explore their new city. So Milo proposes a compromise. He takes the biggest ball of yarn he can find and ties one end of the string around Georgie's middle. Milo won't leave the apartment, but Georgie is free to wander, as long as she returns when Milo gives the string two short tugs. At first, this arrangement seems to work. Georgie is delighted to explore. Their elderly babysitter (blissfully unaware) sleeps all day. And Milo is happy to keep being miserable-despite all the stories Georgie tells him about the neighbourhood dogs, "gelato", and all the people she's befriended. But one day, when Milo tugs the string, Georgie doesn't come back. Which means Milo might just have to step outside and discover everything he's been missing..."--Provided by publisher.
